Yesterday was Valentine’s Day and my partner and I had a wonderful dinner in a nice restaurant, something we do not normally do because we are very budget conscious. It was such a lovely experience and I am so glad we went out. We had a delicious meal and the atmosphere was pleasant and there were no kids – we were in heaven.
Yet, as I looked around the restaurant, something saddened me. I realized that many people, even on a special occasion like Valentine’s Day, struggle with whether to go for a diet dinner or a delicious delicacy. Where is the balance in the equation?

This morning I was grumping. I was grumping because we have a palm tree on the path that leads to the main entrance of the school and it is making a mess. There are purple berries everywhere and as the students walk down the path they stomp on these purple berries and then track them into the school. I was grumping because the gardeners are not sweeping the berries aside, and I was grumping because our poor custodians are going to bear the brunt of the realities of floors stained with deep purple juice. I have a confession to make. I am a habitual snacker. I could go the entire day without eating a proper meal and be fully satisfied, because I love snacking, or rather, “grazing” all day.
