336 Days ’til 40: Facing Your FEARS

We all fear something.  Some people like to pretend that they have no fear, but in reality they are only kidding themselves, and I am guessing that even they are not truly convinced.  We all have worries and concerns and are terrified of various realities that life may bring us.  The fears that we have can be on a variety of levels, from work to family to finances.  Here are some of the most common fears I hear: Read the rest of this entry »

339 Days ’til 40: The Masks We Wear

“The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can’t be any large-scale revolution until there’s a personal revolution, on an individual level. It’s got to happen inside first.” ~Jim Morrison Read the rest of this entry »

343 Days ’til 40: Your OWN Space

My oldest daughter is the inspiration for this post today.  She was HORRIFIED to learn that I wrote about PMS yesterday, “Mom, that is SOOO embarrassing!”  she said.  She is 10.  I then asked her what topics she felt I should be writing about.  She replied, “What a great idea, I can come up with good things for you to write about!”  One of her first suggestions was to write about getting your own room.  This is very important to my daughter, as she currently shares a room with her younger sister.  My oldest is desperate for her own space.  Thus, the title of today’s post.

345 Days ’til 40: Do You NEED a Plan?

Do you sometimes feel as though you are muddling through life without a real plan or direction?  Do you take each day as it comes, allowing each day to control you, rather than you embracing all that the day has to give to you?  Are you running your life or is your life running you?

348 Days ’til 40: A Walk in Nature

Have you ever noticed how calming it can be to take a break from the rat race of our fast-paced lives and immerse ourselves in nature?  I find that a walk through the forest or a stroll down the beach can be very relaxing – they allow us to spend a few golden moments at a different pace – and this is so healthy for us.  Yet, Read the rest of this entry »

350 Days ’til 40: Radiating Joy and Love

Do you ever wonder how some people do it?  How they seem to radiate a love, joy, and kindness 24/7.  They always seem to have a smile on their face, are always positive, cheering people up, patting individuals on the back, offering hugs and condolences.  Their cups are always half full.

364 Days ’til 40: Addiction Versus Habit?

Addictions.  We All have them.  Many of us hate them.  Many of us love them.  And, yes, many of us LOVE to HATE them.  Addictions are a tough subject to tackle because there can be a fine line between a healthy habit and an unhealthy addiction.   The reality of the spectrum ranges from health-promoting habits to death-inducing Read the rest of this entry »

365 Days ’til 40: True Friends

As I take a moment to reflect on my 39th birthday, 366 days ’til 40, I am reminded how blessed I am to have so many wonderful people in my life.  The advent of Facebook has created a forum for us to turn what in years past would have been “seasonal” friends into “lifetime” friends.  I have had the opportunity to reconnect with Read the rest of this entry »
