24 Days ’til 40: Occupational HAZARDS

IMG_1268

This post is dedicated to and inspired by my partner, who claims that I write too many, “go take a bath and feel good about yourself” posts and do not write enough about real life and the predicaments I sometimes manage to get myself into.  So, here is that blog – the entry that shows how utterly human I am…. don’t laugh too hard, okay? 114 Days ’til 40: Fruit of Your Labor

Okay, I admit, I came up with the title of this post due to the inspiration of painstakingly removing the seeds from a pomegranate.  If you have ever done this, you know that  it can be a long process and that your fingers often come out very red (or, at the best, they look a bit jaundiced afterwards).   Read the rest of this entry »

135 Days ’til 40: People are SOOO Human!

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I’m not sure about the former. ~ Albert Einstein

To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting. ~ e.e. cummings

Never underestimate the power of human stupidity. ~ Robert A. Heinlein

I see myself as an intelligent, sensitive human, with the soul of a clown which forces me to blow it at the most important moments. ~ Jim Morrison Read the rest of this entry »

141 Days ’til 40: Pausing to Recognize Accomplishments

Today was one of those days when everything went well at work.  We had been planning for an important visit since last spring and the visit went very well.  The visitor was impressed and offered words of praise and encouragement.  This was a day that, for all intents and purposes, should have been highly uplifting. 192 Days ’til 40: Dealing with Adult Bullies

When people hurt you over and over, think of them like sand paper. They may scratch and hurt you a bit, but in the end, you end up polished and they end up useless. ~ Chris Colfer

Some people won’t be happy until they’ve pushed you to the ground. What you have to do is have the courage to stand your ground and not give them the time of day. Hold on to your power and never give it away. ~Donna Schoenrock

197 Days ’til 40: Wishing for a Snow Day

I better be perfectly honest.  The students are not yet back at school.  The administrators have been on campus for one week, the new teachers for one day short of one week, and the returning teachers for one day. The students arrive on Monday…….  the school is almost set up – ALMOST – and there is a host of paperwork that must be completed and sent out sometime in the next three days.  The school year is about to begin.
