Spring is often attributed to new beginnings and new life. For those blog readers that are celebrating Easter today, you are also thinking about new beginnings. This is a time when we will often take a step back and evaluate. Are we heading where we would like to be? Are we living an authentic life committed to walking in our truth? TODAY is a new day, a new beginning, and an opportunity for you to make the choice to work towards living the life you were created to live. Sometimes the first step is the willingness to self-evaluate and look deep inside yourself in order to discover where your passion lies.
There are many new beginnings that we embark on as human beings, each with their own unique challenges
- New relationships
- New jobs
- Moving to a new community
- Committing to sobriety
- Starting a degree program
- Planning a trip
- Beginning to volunteer in your community
- Establishing a family (through marriage, birth, adoption, or other means)
New beginnings can be stressful, but they are also a time to be celebrated. New chapters in our life are new opportunities for personal growth, love, and deeper contentment and satisfaction with life. It does not matter if you have started over in the past, you can re-commit to beginning anew. Our journey is as critical as our destination and if we dwell on past failures we hinder ourselves from the freedom of thriving in our future achievements.
Today, 319 days ’til 40, I will remember to give thanks for new beginnings. They are one of life’s precious gifts for us all. May we all have gratitude for the fresh opportunities that present themselves for us – and may we have the eyes to recognize them when they are in front of us.

My life is full of new beginnings as it is always a little unstable. But i suppose that makes me a good starter and hopefully one day my dessert will be just as good!

Yes I like to think of Easter as a time of new growth and rebirth of nature that has been lying below the earth waiting to come to life again.
That’s how I feel after most of my life previously living with depression and just now feeling like I have a new chance at life.
I have challenged myself to step out of my ‘comfort zone’ and do some volunteer work…to be among ‘people’ again…a little of the ‘unknown’ factor to contend with. We shall hope and see how I make out!…… Diane

Please let us know how your volunteer work goes! Yes, stepping out of depression is most definitely starting anew…. and so freeing (and sometimes a bit scary.)

The most powerful part of this post for me:
“make the choice to work towards living the life you were created to live.”
1. We have to make a choice. We have to be intentional about change. Change won’t happen unless we want it to happen.
2. Change takes WORK. Seriously, how many bloody times do people have to hear this before they believe it? Marriages take work. Successful careers take work. Change takes work. There ain’t no free lunch, and everything in life worth having takes work. Sorry, there’s no magic pill.
Love the post, very encouraging on this day-before-Easter.

Well said … change takes hard work and it’s all up to us. On the other hand, why do we have to change – why do we need new beginnings ????

what a good reminder – to celebrate new beginnings while recognizing our fear and trepidation of change. thanks

thank you for this – so relevant for me today – especially as I started my blog with its first post yesterday – so much overlap – new beginnings, we have to be willing to make the change – if we don’t change, everything stays the same!

Here here.
I have ‘started-over’ several times since I was a young teenager, changing big things, like which religion I was, what country I lived in and so forth.
I have unfortunately failed in my previous attempts at starting off new but I really hope that this time around will be the time where it will actually happen for me and things will be better.
Starting new things and being able to do so is such a gift that I am trying to not take for granted.
All the best,
The Quiet Borderline

It’s autumn down here in Australia, or is that fall up there in the northern hemisphere, but regardless I’m having the same thoughts of renewal, great post!

I especially appreciate your point about the possibility of re-committing. Even if we’ve tried before and been derailed (or derailed ourselves :)), ‘gotta get back in the game :). peace

Thanks, I have had to learn that through much trial and error (frustration and eventually happiness).

How dull life would be without fresh beginnings. Made a few myself and they don’t always work out, but learning how to pick oneself up and start again is one of lifes’ great lessons. Enjoy the blog very much, insightful, poignant and a pleasure to read. Keep it going. Thanks and good luck.
