259 Days ’til 40: Alone Time

07 Jun

When I think about my own need for alone time it brings to mind a wonderful children’s book written by Jill Murphy called, “Fine Minutes’ Peace.”  This book is about a mother elephant’s quest to find her five minutes of peace……….

I can completely relate!  There are so many times when all I really want are a few minutes to unwind.  I can think of numerous activities I can do during those moments that would help me unwind, such as:

  • Blogging
  • Knitting
  • Quilting
  • Journaling
  • Reading
  • Riding my stationary bicycle
  • Taking a long, warm bath
  • Napping

Ah, to have those moments to steal away from life and escape!  Often we fantasize about the escapes more than we put them into practice.

Today, 259 days ’til 40, I will remain on a diligent quest for five minutes’ peace.

I love people watching … sitting on a bench in the park or in a cafe and just seeing what these man human-beings are up to

I find alone time as important to me as anything else in my schedule. At home with yourself…free to think, feel or do what you wish. (home not meant literally 8)

Blogging is a great escape … or take a walk with the camera.

Amen to all that… I’m a loner by nature, love having people I like around but not just because and I’m often happy to be left to my own devices. Unfortunately as you point out that does not always happen as planned.
I’ve gotten better at it but then again I’m single and childless so I imagine a lot of it is just my good luck until that changes! 😀

Yes, and then you will have new relationship luck and never a spare moment again!!! (Until they move out!)

I have plenty of “Me Time”, yet I’m never at peace, in here lies the irony most people would kill for…

    agree agree agree
definitively knitting is a peaceful break into the daily routine, it’s like meditation, time stops and earth too, just a breathing moment in a busy life.
