I think it always falls like the tears on a child you don’t know or the laughter of a baby you have never met

Absolutely. Why do we assume that only we can hear and only we can make a sound?

Yep it does make a noise. We’re not the only animals capable of hearing. Any of them near will hear.

You all have sun, good for you! Our summer here has been nothing more than rain showers interspersed with some sun when it decides to comes out to play. I’m guessing we’ve had little more than about a week of sun this year. Ireland is noted for rain but this summer is trying to beat some rain record that no-one knows about.

Great post by the way, it made me more aware of the silence this morning when I woke which I love. Tks:)

Well it does but only humans need to define it or even ask the question.

… if a tree falls in the forest … there will be a sound and if we don’t hear it … I think it’s sad.

Don’t you think it does make a sound? Otherwise wouldn’t it always just be a figment of our imagination… Like when someone asks you if you’ve heard something. You say no, but the more they ask you, you convince yourself that you have heard it. Either to please that other person, or to now feel left out! 😉

Hmm….. very interesting…. but isn’t a fall really a sound wave? If the sound wave is not received, can something make a sound?????? 🙂

Hmm, so how does that work with deaf people? Does the sound only really occur if the recipient is able to process it. ?
Interesting topic… Definitely food for thought! 🙂

Was talking to my man about this. He says that ‘noise’ is only ever a sound vibration until someone is there to hear it and therefore translate it into sound… but how would you know, unless you were there? 😉

Sounds are vibrations interpreted. Vibration is movement. Even before the tree falls, it is similar vibrations that hold its form together as a tree. Without movement there would be no form, no sound, no anything. I love movement. You have wonderful posts on here, all of which have moved me!
