Today was not a particularly special day. In fact, I would consider today to be a very ordinary day.. I got up and headed to work – work was VERY busy. Not only did I have a day packed with obligations from 7:15 until @ 3:30, I then had to head to a board meeting which kept me from home until late at night (as I write this I am waiting to head home, and expect to actually arrive home at 10:30 or even 11:00 tonight- if I am lucky!) Yet, I look at today and I am able to step back and give thanks.
I have often taken the time to step back and allow myself to realize that, even amidst the craziness of life, life is good. Even in the midst of the chaos and busy schedules, I am so thankful to have a loving partner, two bright and loving (most of the time) daughters, and three cats that love me. It is the little things that mean so much – and these little things can help us to keep perspective in the midst of the parts of life that we often run to catch up with. If only we could always (or, at least, often) keep this perspective. Perhaps there would be less depression in this world.
Today, 163 days ’til 40, I am reminded to take the time to stop and count my blessing – there are many. When I take the time to do so, I am blessed

in lieu of hope, a bit of gratitude
it is hard when facing despair to even consider platitudes
but for now the earth persists in its beauty
and there is nothing wrong with a little humility
when attempting a change of attitude

I have a post-it-note on my computer screen that reads “What am I grateful for – right now?!” Great attitude and perspective! You ARE a winner because of your choices! It’s impossible for you to be anything else! Hugs from the rabbi!

What I know of you via your blog, I sure admire you. BUT – I realized with this post that I’m one cat up on you, as far as blessings go. Ha!

A wonderful, happy post with a very positive message – we’re all blessed in some way or another and it is good to be reminded that even in a busy day we have things to be thankful for!

Stopping and counting our blessings…hmmm…if more did this, we’d have a better world, don’t you think, 400?

We should be thankful for everything around us and happens for us even if we do not like it.

Definitely should be more thankful for what we have.
