132 Days ’til 40: What Do You Keep Locked Up???

12 Oct

Today I was thinking about the fact that we, as people, keep many things locked up in our lives.  We keep physical things locked up and we keep emotional feelings locked up.

Sometimes as we keep things locked up we think we are finding freedom in holding things at bay…. and other times…. other times I wonder if we are actually chaining ourselves and limiting our lives as we keep things locked up.

I find that the less I leave locked up, the more I am able to deal with (whether it is my physical “stuff” or emotional “stuff”) the better my life becomes, the more content I am.

As I am willing to face those things I wanted locked up, I become a better parent, a better partner – and I am able to give to the best of my ability all the support I can to my staff, our amazing students, and their wonderful families.

Today, 132 days ’til 40, I remind myself that life gets better when we stop locking things up!

sometimes I need to jiggle the key and pull at the lock a bit to let those inner feelings out …

Wow, that’s really insightful. I feel the same way about the emotional stuff. Locking it up is rarely good, if ever. It makes me wonder about the value of maybe imagining the “safe” or whatever sort of “room” in my psyche the stuff is locked in; because there are definitely things in there! But if I imagine it as a red velvety room with cozy chairs, a little smooth wooden table, some candles, and a fire place, perhaps I can sit with those locked up things in there and learn more about them and finally let them out. Might be something I try later on. Thanks for the inspiration to bring my mind to that place!

I locked up so many things in my mind!…Then *BANG*!!
my poor brain couldn’t cope and I had a nervous breakdown.
Unlocking your mind and dealing with things as they happen…sets your mind free of negative energy!

I can think of quite a few things I keep “locked up.” Of course, most of them are mental in nature. If I were a smart woman, I’d let go of that and move on to a healthier life… right?

Thank you for an awesome post,

    Naia.

Yes, we would all be smarter (and happier) if we learned that lesson, but it is a hard one to learn!
