Remember when life’s path is steep to keep your mind even. ~ Horace
As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives. ~ Henry David Thoreau
No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path. ~ Buddha
There have been many times over the past 305 days when I have written about staying the course or walking the path. I think that this is one of our greatest challenges in life. At times I have also written about the fact that staying on the path of our own lives can actually mean that we must find ourselves adventuring off the beaten path.
I find that my mental state greatly influences my ability to stay on the path, to focus on my day-to-day life and also on my long-term goals. I LOVE the Thoreau quote, as I find it to be so true. When I am able to focus my thoughts on the way I WANT to live my life and the person I WANT to be then I find that I do indeed begin to see shifts in my life. The key is for us to diligently monitor our thoughts.
As we know, we can choose to focus on the positive things and we are happy and see growth, but we can also choose to focus on the negative and find ourselves sinking into an abyss of depression and lack of productivity.
Today, 95 days ’til 40, I continue to challenge myself to think productive thoughts – so that I can continue to grow and evolve into the person I desire to be.

It’s such a wonderful philosophy, and yet so difficult to pull off regularly. I’m accepting the challenge right there along with you!

There are moments I come across your blog and think…yup. Exactly. And it makes me think about where I am, at this moment in time, today, and how I’m getting where I’m going.
thank you for this very timely reminder.

I have watched you grow so much over the course of your blogging. Just remember that it is the path, not the destination, that is your life (I think I stole that from Buddha). Keep up the good work and remember that to fly a plane forward, sometimes you need to change altitude.
