The inspiration for today’s post came from a friend of mine, who knows me too well. She is a faithful reader (at least, far more faithful than my mother! – Oops, did I write that out loud???) She can tell what is or is not going on in my life (at times) by what I post…. or what I do not post. This week she could tell I was tired (or lazy, or maybe both!)
I am sure that many readers out there can also tell. This past week there were a few photo-only posts. There are those days when I am so exhausted, or caught up in the realities of life, that a photo is all I can manage – BUT, in those moments I am still posting!!!
I think this is such a good reminder that it really is okay to be ourselves, know ourselves, and give ourselves permission to understand where we are at and meet needs. This is a lesson that has taken me a while to learn. This is a lesson that, sadly, many people spend their lifetimes struggling to grasp. It is okay to slow down, to say no, to pause. It is even okay to do these things without reason, from time to time. As long as our important responsibilities are taken care of, it is okay for us to take a break, have an unproductive day, or just be.
Today, 89 days ’til 40, I am reminded that it is okay to be tired, or lazy – as long as it is in moderation!

So true, I just listened to a story about a friend of a friend who is literally killing herself to try and make everyone in her family happy. I started crying and wondered wonder if they’ll think it was all worth it when they are standing at her grave.

Oh no, that is not good. I hope she is able to slow down…. not easy.

Oh, how well I understand! Navigating the period from Halloween through New Year’s with four little kids, especially while helping my in-laws during my father-in-law’s terminal illness, is exhausting. I’m glad you’ve stayed at it, even if you’ve had to resort to photo-only posts. I had to take a couple of months’ break! Peace be with you — Kelly

It is very hard to to keep up with the daily posts…… It has been such a learning process, but I am also looking forward to hitting 40 and then only posting when I feel like it. 🙂

it is ok to LAZE – but don’t tell yourself you are LAZY. To rest and to do nothing is not necessarily being LAZY, it is the act of restoring your soul. LAZY on the other hand is a choice not to meet your responsibilities (my definition). You are not LAZY, just resting. I find how I use words makes a big difference in how I perceive myself. Enjoy.

Totally agree, 400! Each day can bring either new, exciting things, or it can be the same, dull ‘grind’…taking time off is important, in order to remain sane! Have a restful weekend (and, of course, I don’t mind the photo-only posts at all!)!!!

I took a break the past couple days myself – busy and lazy too. Yes, it’s ok! After all most of us aren’t getting paid for what we put on here!

Definitely! Writing has been therapy for me since I was able to write (wrote one of my first stories in kindergarten!).

I’d drink to that if I could, cose that’s some sermon you preached there and needs to be heard. People no only spend a lifetime trying to grasp the concept of taking your time and just be, but also they do not allow others to do so. The arrogance of certain beings still astonishes me. Thank you fro sharing.

hehehe! Yes, this is so very true – I hope that we can all learn this lesson – with time! 🙂
