A thing of beauty is a joy forever; its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness. ~ John Keats
Today I had one of those moments when I smiled – a moment of simple joy, brought to me courtesy of installation artist Smadar Carmeli. She made the cushions above, but not out of materials you would expect, they are created from concrete! My girls and I LOVED them and the girls, even knowing intellectually that they were made from concrete, were somewhat surprised when they felt how hard they were as they sat down. Our mind can play tricks on us, they believed the way the cushions looked to their senses and the conclusions they would naturally draw re: texture, rather than follow the intellectual information they were given. It was so much fun to explore these cushions! I hope you enjoy!
Today, 21 days ’til 40, I am thankful for those special moments when I can look at something beautiful and smile.

Smadar Carmeli must be a wonderful human being…just for having thought of this, and then creating ‘soft’ things from one of the ‘hardest’ substances in the world! Lucky YOU (all)!!!
