Perception Vs. Reality

I love photos taken with mirror images in water.  I particularly like the ones I have to study closely to decipher which way is up.  I know that one half is real and the other is only a reflection of reality.  One thing I continue to learn is that perception of reality can be as convincing to many as reality itself – and that can be wonderful, beautiful – and also quite dangerous (or maybe humiliating – think Emperor’s New Clothes).  Read the rest of this entry »

129 Days ’til 40: Let Me In!!!

Yes, I continue to torture my cat for the purposes of my blog (well, not really). There was a repair man at my apartment today and I needed to lock my cats on the balcony for an hour while they worked. Two of the cats enjoyed it, the third was NOT happy – as the photo shows. As I watched my screaming cat, I thought of how often we do the same in relationships in our lives. How many time have you wanted to scream at someone to let you in???

202 Days ’til 40: Showing Others You Care

Have you ever noticed that sometimes the most simple gestures can be so profound?  Have you ever had a stranger brighten your day with a wave or a smile?  Recently we were driving home from shopping and our car pulled up next to a very worn down public bus.  In the window next to our car was a mother and two young girls.  The mother encouraged these adorable girls to wave to us.  We waved back, causing them to bounce up and down with delight and wave more vigorously at us.  This made our day.
