180 Days ’til 40: No More Black Thumb!

25 Aug

This is the view from my kitchen window – they are in my planter box – and they are alive!!!

I bought these in fall of 2011 and have managed to keep them alive, and even growing and thriving for almost a full year. Β Yes, modern miracles do occur!

Congratulations! I’m not much of a green thumb myself so any plant that stays alive with me is wonderful.

In the meantime, I spent a bit of time perusing your blog and realized we have a very similar goal in mind; I’m eighteen years old, and I had my life planned out until some divine intervention occured and I realized I knew nothing about myself. So I took the year to step out of my comfort zone and learn about who I am and what I can do before I grow up and go off to college.

Because of the similarities, I think it’s safe to say you have a new follower. πŸ™‚

Wow, sounds like you are on an amazing journey yourself! Good for you! It is always healthy and important to take the time to step back and reflect – it allows us to be more purpose-driven, which is so much healthier for us. I wish you the best!

I’m jealous. I can’t get things to grow in my outside planters. Inside no problem. Outside yeah a problem 😦

I can only grow outside – if I grow anything inside, my cats think it is their snack food! πŸ™‚

I love the look of window box’s, I had them on our old house at one time and it was fun to plan what they’d look like every year. I’m amazed it’s lasted so long, if that’s a geranium. Way to go!

It is a geranium – apparently if you work with them correctly they can last for years (in milder climates)!

Speaking as someone who managed to neglect a cactus to death, I applaud your lovely flowers. Thanks for my tenth “like” at Clothed with Thunder!

This made me laugh – killing a cactus is pretty bad! Thank you for visiting my blog and I was happy to visit yours!

I was quite famous for a plant graveyard, so I am pleased I have kept these alive so far – in fact, I have six planter boxes full of them (three on kitchen windows and three on my balcony) and so far they are all still alive – miraculously!

What kind of flower? Congrats on your green-thumb. I’m really good with outside plants, but I have a black thumb for houseplants!

These are geraniums! I suppose they are technically outside plants – since they are in an outdoor planter box right outside my kitchen window!

Beautiful. We have geraniums that we winter indoors, hanging them in the garage over winter. They’ve lasted 3 years now. They just go dormant but come back fully in the spring.
    Keep it up.

Wow, great to know that you kept them alive for over three years!!! Our climate is moderate enough that they lasted through the winter (by our window sill) and even managed to bloom with snow (okay, the snow in our area lasted two whole days!) πŸ™‚
