There are those wonderful mornings that work out beautifully – today was one of those mornings.I was the first one awake in our home (usually I am the last) and I decided to take advantage of the quiet house. I started by making myself a mocha (see photo above) and then sat down to work on my computer. It was such a lovely experience to have those moments of morning quiet all to myself. My cats visited me and purred. I took a deep breath and enjoyed the morning air.
If only I could start every morning quietly sipping a mocha with no pressure. Most mornings are a mad chaotic rush to make it out the door in time to get to work (as we capitalize on every last moment available for sleep).
Today, 74 days ’til 40, I remind myself to pause and appreciate those quiet morning moments…. when I do it changes my entire day – for the better!

I’ve always been a morning person, but my “flex time” is so much shorter now (but much less chaotic)…..I just can’t seem to get up as early as I used to. I’m actually calling this PROGRESS….since I used to hit-the-ground-running with my Type A body and mind by 5:00 every day, fully an hour before my entire family. Now, the family is gone..but I am learning to slow down and enjoy each moment. I’ll join you for another cup of mocha!

Lovely (and high calorie?) image of mocha, 400! On weekends, I grind fresh beans and make a strong dark roast w/cream and sugar while enjoying the early morning silence…it makes for a better day, don’t you think?

First of all yum and secondly I can completely relate to your idea of the perfect morning. I have animal kids and seldom am I allowed to have a quiet morning! 😛 My cat Amber joins me often too and cozies up in the seat by mine and purrs too….very soothing.

Ah yes, my cats can be an issue with quiet mornings (and quiet nights! 😦 ) I have one cat who screams and scratches at our door until we let her in at night – sometimes she does this 5-10 times throughout the night and it is so frustrating!
