We all have those days – those days when it is cold, miserable and wet outside, yet the kids need entertaining. I had one of these days this week. The challenge was exacerbated by the fact that our cleaner was coming, for six hours, and wanted us OUT of the house so that we would not be in her way (she is smart). So, that left me, awful weather, and two kids desperately needing to be entertained (without breaking my pocket-book). So, what was the solution????? MALL HUNT! Have you ever played??? I gave my girls a list of items they had to spot in our local shopping mall (I had some easy and some hard items – a few they never found). We walked throughout the entire mall and when they found an item on the list they were required to use their digital cameras to document their findings. Here were some of the things on their Mall Hunt treasure hunt list:
In the end, Mall Hunt was able to provide us with just over two hours of entertainment (we have a big mall and I gave the girls a big list). They had fun finding what they needed, I picked up a few items I needed along the way, and we were able to entertain ourselves and get some exercise on a rainy day (and it was all free)!
Sometimes the best ideas and games come not from a place of random creativity, but are born out of complete and utter desperation.
Today, 57 days ’til 40, I am thankful for the ability to be creative in desperate times!

Oh, 400, so much better than sitting in a movie theater…and paying an exhorbitant price for under two hours of ‘entertainment! Wonderfully creative…and the girls had so much more fun!!!
Merry New Year! :>) !!!

Is there a grown-up version? As in, hunt for sparkly, shiny things, fabulous heels, and something to make us look 10 years younger? ; )

Great idea, I think I will give this a try with my boys. Even better, the walking might tire them out, me too.
